The art of simplicity
Aside from running this successful program with students from all over the world, Teresa also runs bootcamps with READY SET KIZ where you can find a supportive community and challenge yourself as a dancer to become a better you rather than someone else!
Born in Sweden with roots in Cuba, Teresa's spicy mix came to life very early. With a big family full of artists, dancers, and musicians, she grew up performing on stage ever since she was as young as 5 years old. This gave her the experience to perform on stage, compete, and most of all, learn to evolve her own expression.
Since 2011, she's been taking dance classes from international instructors in Sweden and around the world.
From 2013–2019, she was teaching salsa, bachata, and kizomba at "Stockholm Salsa Dance" in Sweden, as well as performing and teaching in and out of the dance school at international festivals.
Teresa started out her kizomba partnership with Kristofer Mencák in 2014. They won the Scandinavian Kizomba Championship together and finished sixth in the World Kizomba Championship. Her big breakthrough that brought her into the scene as an international artist was when she became partners with Urban Kiz founder Enah Lebon in 2016 and has since then traveled the world teaching and performing in collaborations with top artists in the field, teaching choreographed boot camps and workshops for ladystyling in kizomba.
Since 2017, she has worked as an individual artist and is known for her softness yet accuracy in her movements and her very detailed and thorough pedagogy, teaching the technique of body isolations and the keys to becoming a very light follower. She sees musicality as the main priority in any dance and shows how you can do so as a follower without interrupting the following in the dance.
At the end of 2019, Teresa started up her own online dance coaching, bringing a new concept to the scene of kizomba, called "READY SET KIZ." The concept is to create a personal program with specific challenges that each student gets weekly, followed up by personal feedback and coaching throughout each and every week of a duration of 8 weeks. These challenges are made so you challenge yourself with technique-based methods and create your own expression and musicality with the right technique, something that has always been Teresa’s main focus not only in her way of dancing but also in her way of teaching.
